Hi Brendan! The eero 6+ is a full router by itself, you just connect it to your modem like any other router and use the free eero app to set everything up! Once you've got the eero connected to your modem, the app will help you find great spots for the rest of them around your home to ensure you've got a great network connection no matter where you are! I hope that helps, have a great rest of your day!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works either way. I chose to turn the WiFi network off on the Spectrum Cable Modem, but left it configured to be the router. I set these up as passive, getting their IP Addrs from the modem/router. It has the settings to run as a router if you choose.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This replaced the router. Much better speeds and service with this eero.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the eero 6+ does have a DHCP router built in and can be the head of your network. All three of these have that capability. The head/gateway eero will be the one that has the closest connection to the internet, so the one you will have plugged into your modem. If you are intending to hardwire the other eero make sure they are downstream of the head/gateway eero (so don't go modem->multiple eero but go modem->gateway eero->switch->other hardwired eero and devices).
