• You need a separate modem. This is a wifi system, not a "gateway" device that combines both.

• A mesh system will handle only routing and wifi. You will still need a modem (either a cable modem, a DSL modem, or a fiber ONT, depending on what kind of service your ISP provides for you).

• Yes you need a modem and then just plug in Ethernet cable to one pod and go through setup. I got the EERO mesh system and setup took less than 10 min. I then disabled the wi-fi feature on my ATT modem and just connected all devices to the mesh. Works great.
