I'm not sure if all modem/routers are the same however the one from my cable company had to go to bridge mode for this system to work properly. I'm not the best networking person but can tell you that I named the network on my EERO system the same as the one from the cable company. This may have complicated the issue and it resulted in slow speeds since the two routers were fighting for the same signal. This was at the 2.5 and 5.0. If you name it something different it may work. I don't know, but when I called EERO, they told me that my cable company device had to go to bridge mode.
