Yes. Hard wire the first one to the modem. The second one can be placed anywhere and does no need a hard wire to the modem. Download the Eero app on your phone and it will walk you through the install. It's extremely easy and user friendly and will take about 10 minutes. -john

Please try again later.You only need to hookup one to your router and place the other one in room they recommend no more then 2 rooms away I think. then you setup both of through the app, it's really easy but to answer your question you only need to hardwire only one of them.
