The Tech that installed my system told me I could use my old Eero equipment with the new.

Yes, all eero will work with all other eero. However, mixing these two (an eero Pro 6E or 6+ with older eero) will limit the bandwidth on 5ghz possible to what the older eero can handle. The eero Pro 6E and 6+ can use 160 mhz bandwidth on 5 ghz, older eero max out at 80 mzh.
