When I close the lid on this laptop, I assume it automatically 'sleeps', but does it continue to use the battery? I have used several laptops that drains the battery whilst sleeping and ultimately crashes when the battery drains. null

I find little to no drain when left on and the lid closed. I charged it to 100% last night, then closed the lid. I opened it this afternoon and it is still at 100%.

Yes: there are 2 modes for 'sleep'. One is suspend where the battery is still being drained. This will provide a faster startup after sleeping. The second mode is "hibernate' which basically stores your current work session onto the SSD and powers down the computer. Restarting from the hibernation state, reads the stored work session and you can continue where you left off. To minimize battery drain, use hibernate instead of suspend.

Yes but you can adjust all of this in the Power Options.
