“I need a help, My replacement catridge code is 220/220XL.However I never print any colour , even in that case should i buy this whole set or can i just replace only black purchasing this Epson - 220 Ink Cartridge - Black and will the printer prints work”

you can get black only.

my printer stops printing when any one cartridge is empty whether color or black. Thought it would pull to combine color to black. Printer gives plenty of warning that a cartridge is low.

Only replace the ink your printer tells you that you need to replace. The advantage to buying a set is it is cheaper than buying each cartridge seperately. If you only print black then just buy the black ink cartridge.
