Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are generally two types of black ink, dye based and pigment based. You do not want to mix them up, the pigment based ink is not only thicker, but uses larger particles that will damage or destroy you black dye print head nozzle. Running dye based ink through your pigment print head will give you poor quality prints and possibly a leaky mess inside your printer. Many quality printers now run 5 separate inks cartridges, 3 color and 2 black. The smaller dye based black ink cartridge is predominatly for photos and the larger pigment cartridge is predominantly for text..
