• This printer has a USB port. I don't know what will happen if you don't install all the colors. If you only want to print in black, then get a laser printer, spend less money and get the printouts faster.

• Hello DaveK. Yes, the ET-2850 has a USB port to connect a Hi-Speed USB cable from your printer to your computer. Even when only printing black, the printer does require all four colored tanks to be filled using Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
