“Will the flatbed cover on the model 3830 hold upward if I lift it, say 9 inches, then remove my grip? Or, must I swing the cover all the way backward to make it stay open?.”

Hello WaWho. You would have to open the scanner lid all the way. Otherwise, the lid would close on its own when partially opened. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
