“Copier lid hinge does not hold itself open. It will crash close unless I keep my hand on the lid and slowly lower it until comes to a stop. Is this normal?”

Hello TH. The scanner unit should lock into place when opened fully. There should be a ratchet-like locking mechanism on the back right side. If the cover does not lock, check for obstructions or damage in that area. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
