“What us the highest resolution of the scanner element, and does the scanner software cheat by scanning at a lower dpi (say 100 dpi) then up-res the file size to mimic a 600 dpi file? I need a scanner that has a minimum of 600 dpi. Thanks!”

Hi Rebecca, the EcoTank Photo ET-8550 can scan at a maximum hardware resolution of 1200 x 4800 dpi. Much higher than 600 dpi. It can produce a maximum interpolated resolution (what you call a software cheat) of 9600 dpi. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It scans at 1200 x 4800 dpi - I have done some high res scans, I saw no reason for this to not be true. Scan size is 8.5" x 14".
