Hello Cal. Yes, you can scan and enlarge images. We recommend you scan the image on the highest quality settings to retain as much detail as possible. Please note your results will vary as different factors can affect how the final image will look, including the condition and quality of the original photo. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.

It should have plenty of resolution to capture the detail you could see on a computer monitor from a 4x6 print. The printed image quality is similarly not quite up to Epson or Canon's dedicated photo printers, but can certainly match the photo quality we are used to in glossy magazines. (And it is way less expensive per copy.) The hard part of any analog photo copying is matching the color balance and contrast between the original and copy, and for that you will probably need to experiment, This is likely to require software that will adjust (typically tone down) both color and contrast (at least.) The free color scanning software and printing tools that Epson provides can probably do a reasonable job of this. (I have found the image quality of the free Epson scanning app competitive with commercial solutions).. However, I'd plan on printing your 8.5x11 copy out of your favorite photo editor rather than a general purpose document editor/printer.
