• I have not printed pictures with the XP-420. However, from my research, higher XP numbers, such as the 620, are better suited for picture quality. They have an additional ink cartridge called photo black that should enhance printed pictures.

• It prints great. Make sure you are using quality paper

• I have printed only a couple of photos. (i usually don't print photos; I edit the photos I want print to print and have them done commercially.) But the print quality, using Canon paper, is great. I'd recommend it.
