Yes it can according to the documentation. I also sort of did a dry run with the software and took it up to the last step before the actual scan. Easy. I have not done it yet after a month ownership however will shortly be using it a lot that way. I had a 3640 printer before and it only had capability to scan to SD card and did that easily and efficiently. I expect the 7100 to be the same with both SD and USB flash.
