You can choose a file prefix or naming pattern for your photos and they will be numbered, e.g. "FFPic_nnnn.jpg" or "1987_June_USA_RoadTrip_nnnn.jpg" (Year/Month or Season/Subject). The latter would use "6/1/1987" as the "Date Taken" which you can also later edit. You'd have to use your operating system or third-party-app to assign Metadata tags or comments (e.g. File Explorer in Windows).
