That is actually the reason I bought it, updating my old V100 which was 35mm only. My wife found some old 120 film negatives of her as a child she had never seen. Initial quote from camera store at $0.25 each to print was reasonable until I brought them in and discovered was not chemical based processing but needed to be digitized at $5 each to inkjet process. Did the math and that paid for a new scanner! It is not really a tray but the V550 comes with two plastic guide holders - one 35mm the other 120mm film/slides - that lays on the glass platten with the side tabs positioning it correctly. 600,616,and 620 are the 2" wide 120 film. Just a matter if 2 or 3 can go on the platic guide. The white pad in the lid pulls out and exposes the lighting unit for negative/slides which the film in the plastic guide will be directly under. Within the software, I use the "Professional Mode". When you select film as the document type, the resulting scan is a positive, so no other software is required...but I do use Photoshop later for cleanup and cropping before printing. I upped the scan to 1200 dpi for both slides and negatives to give large enough file to enlarge from such a small scan area. Also, while suppose to "smartly" identify breaks for one scan, but had problems recognizing the breaks. Loaded 3 negatives, previewed, selected and scanned individually

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, for sure. It comes with feeder frames and your negative will fit into it. Only caveat -- you'll have to use manual settings when scanning it, don't use the default thumbnails. The software does convert negatives to "prints." This scan I'm attaching is from a 2" black and white photo taken in 1962.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am using the Epson Perfection V800 Pro which comes with several trays for different size negatives as well as slides and positive transparencies. I do have the 550 as well which has similar trays but not as many. Product description indicates that it comes with Slide Holder & 35mm Film Holder Or Film Guide Negative Or Positive. I didn't unpackage them so I don't remember what sizes. You will need software to do the conversion from negative to positive. I have used Photoshop for this but it is pricey. The V800 Pro comes with SilverFast SE. SilverFast will allow you to do the same clean up as Photoshop, possibly more. I am just learning how to use it so I can't do an honest comparison. Both the V550 and V800 Pro come with something called "Digital ICE", technology that helps eliminate scratches, etc. at time of scan, You will still need to use some kind of software to complete processing your scans. If you don't already have it, I recommend "Scanning Negatives and Slides: Digitizing Your Photographic Archives 2nd Edition" by Sascha Steinhoff. This book explains scanning and processing slides and negatives and provides some excellent information on the scanners and software, including Photoshop and SilverFast. The included DVD incudes some software as well as sample scans from various scanners including the Epson Perfection V750. I hope this helps. If all you are doing is scanning film and negatives you may want to consider a film scanner instead of a flatbed scanner.
