no wired ethernet, just usb 2.0 and you'll have to ask the epson product engineers on the 'why usb 2.0' question, but maybe that's partly why its inexpensive for a quality scanner. scanner is excellent at such a low cost, however - hard to find these dpi's and bit levels for anything less than $800-$1,000, 35mm negative scanning is excellent, but the bundled photo software just ok.
