- Answer No, you don't have to have land line to use the scanner. The scanner connects to the computer via a USB port.

Questioni see the width is 11 inches but the document max is 36 inches. could it still scan a document that is 14 inches wide?

- Answer You most certainly can, whether its 200 or 600 dpi; the included software doesn't stop and say because you're scanning at 600 dpi, you cannot save to pdf. The previous answer is sooooo wrong! I just finished scanning a stack of old documents at this resolution, saved as pdf and then combined the resulting files through another pdf software other than adobe!!!!

- Answer It has a setting for laminated items. In fact it suggest a laminating carrier for certain types of stock.

- Answer It depends on the resolution you set and the physical size of the document. It is a special purpose scanner and as such it is pretty quick for a consumer level scanner. Probably something like low single digit seconds generally per document. YMMV.

- Answer I use it all the time to scan to PDFs, but it has options to scan to .BMP, .JPG, and .TIF files.

- Answer It does duplex scanning. You only have to feed it through once. Just click the optional box for "duplex" before starting the scan

- Answer No reason it shouldn't. You can configure the folder destination, so it would just be a matter of pointing it to a the USB drive.

- Answer It depends on the quality of the original. If the original exposure is poor, the scanned result may require post-processing to improve the quality. If the original is properly exposed, e.g. not extremely dark or have excessive contrast, then I have been satisfied with the scanned result.
