Does this particular scanner need a USB cord null

It can be used with, or without a cord

No - it actually comes with a cord. You need to attach it for the initial setup but it can then connect wirelessly. Or you can still use the cord.

You will need the usb for charging, but scanner connects wirelessly via WiFi.

The USB cord is necessary during initial installation, but we couldn't ever get ours to properly install and work using a wireless connection.

This has a wireless connection option, so a USB cable is not needed to connect to your device. However, it is needed to charge the scanner.
