It depends on how strong your wifi is. mine records almost immediately.

In fact, there are several nights where the deer in my neighborhood will trigger the recording and alert 5 or 6 times within a minute. I've even had blocks of triggered recording that were 20 minutes long as various wild animals would shuffle past by house.
