That’s correct. The unit needs to have constant power. If the switch is turned off, the unit will not work. There is no battery backup on the unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine is installed to a switch I can turn on and off. I leave my outdoor lights on 24/7 with dusk to dawn light bulbs. We do not have children so it is not a problem. But if the switch is off I assume the light will not work.

I had the same issue so I placed painters tape over the switch to prevent it from being used. The other option is to remove the switch from the circuit (you may need an electrician). Hope this helps.
