Okay, so I played the game and answered my own question in about an hour. After putting in the code for the included season pass card-thing it loaded everything up and was accessible when you get to your first shop after clearing the little starting island area.

The difference is that the gold edition has a redeemable code that includes everything on the gold and deluxe edition. The deluxe edition has a redeemable code that only unlocks the deluxe edition content. It is not on the disk. Hope this helps.
