• It will, but I would go with the 50mm 1.8 oss It will focus faster, and being the 5100 does not have in body stable, it will help keep your images sharper.

• You'll want to get the non "f" version of this lens. The model number that contains the f at the end is the full frame version. They sell a crop version for your camera that is slightly different in cost (a little more expensive sadly).
