I have an old school one in my attic that looks like something you might hang clothing on to dry. My dad installed it 35years ago (I bought the propriety from him) connected my recast right to it and got 175 channels. Not all where content I would watch but I got them lol. You don’t need to buy a new antenna if you already have a old one that worked b4 you ever had cable.

However, I would suggest checking out: www.antennasdirect.com, and looking through what they have to offer... as well as Amazon.com & BestBuy.com I've also reviewed the antenna installation service which is offered by DISH/Sling: https://youtu.be/eI9fmQm78UM I would STRONGLY suggest mounting the antenna on your roof, as high as you can get it. If you live in a rural area, your biggest issue is not going to be the exact brand/type of antenna you buy (although that can be important)... the big issue is getting unobstructed or minimally-obstructed reception. You'll want to get an OUTDOOR antenna, and in my videos above I review several different ones. I even go through the 4 antennas that they use at DISH/Sling if you decide to use their installation service. I like the Monster Aegis MA8011... it's easy to mount high, and it comes with a signal booster (but if you decide to get an antenna without a signal booster, you can always buy that separately). But realistically, the single most important issue that you should focus on is getting the antenna mounted as high as possible. After that, you need to find out what direction the majority of your broadcast stations/signals are coming from... and try to point the antenna in that direction. The Monster antenna that I reviewed above is supposed to be "omni-directional" (meaning that it doesn't really matter what direction I point it), but I can't really attest to that since I like in Houston and almost all of the television stations are broadcasting from the SW part of the city. I think you love the Recast... good luck with the antenna shopping!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We had to experiment. We bought a 10.00 one and hung it on the window. It was flat like a piece of cardboard. We are 60 miles away from our transmission towers. It didn’t get a couple of channels we were hoping for. So we took it back and got a very small wire one that had a 100 mile range. We put that on a rafter in the attic. We used a phone app to point it. It got every channel we wanted. Plus some from another city it wasn’t pointed at. Works great. All in all I think it was about 60.00 for that antenna.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought a omni-directional antenna from Fry's Electronics yesterday on sale for $39. After installation, I more than doubled my channel selection (33 to 73).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For rural areas, you will likely need a rooftop/outdoor antennna.
