“Just installed off air TV antenna. Outlet for antenna connection to TV is not on a wall i want to use. Installer said Recast could be used. Smart TV could be then be plugged into another electrical outlet without antenna connection. Is this true?”

I've installed the recast and this is the setup.. Outside antenna is best for optimal signal and plugged into recast closets to antenna. You will need a fire tv stick for each TV. Also ideal router should be of type AC such as a NETGEAR - AC1750. This gives faster performance and prevents buffering depending on how many devices are using it at one time. The recast works with fire TV stick on each tv over wifi so no cables are necessary. This is why you place recast inside near antenna and run antenna cable through wall to recast if using outside antenna. Follow instructions with recast for setup as well as instructions with fire tv sticks if using multiple TVs. If tv station towers are far from home (mine are 60 to 70 miles) you will receive more channels if you use a pre-amp attached outside on antenna such as the Winegard LNA-200. You connect the Antenna to the Recast box and then the signal is transmitted to your TV wherever it’s at in the house . It uses your homes WiFi to do that. Also, the TV has to have a Firestick or Firecube attached to it to receive image from the Recast . Hope that helps.

I have mine in a completely separate room from where I watch TV. You just have to be able to connect the recast to the internet. It has wireless capabilities but being hard wired would be best.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The antenna needs to be hooked to the Recast. Then the FireTV stick needs to be added to each TV you want to use. The menu on the FireTV will change after getting paired with the Recast. Each one will now have a DVR option at the top. Only one antenna is needed and should only be plugged into the Recast. The DVR menu from the FireTV will have the local TV channels.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The installer was very close to being right. The name of the item Is fire tv recast, I point this out because it only recasts to a firestick or cube. The good news is firesticks are cheap and plentiful.
