I currently have a Charge 2 and have not had an issue with it counting arm movements as steps, so I would look into exchanging your Fitbit.

I've had a CHARGE for over a year and it does NOT do this. I can pump my arm over my head real fast and it does it but thats not a normal activity in my day to day.

I am only familiar with the charge 2 and the charge HR and I believe both do that

Your tracker will pick up arm movements but it should not be every arm movement. You should be able to raise and lower your arm without out steps being counted, the more intense the arm movement yes it will count as a step as with most pedometers. I would give it a week to give it a good sense of what your stride is and it should become more accurate. You can also check your settings like which hand are you right or left, which wrist are you wearing tracker dominant or non dominant, and lastly you can manually estimate your stride so it knows what you consider a step. If your tracker is loose and bouncing around like you are wearing a bangle bracelet then yes that will throw it off also. Most trackers work this way unless you get into the really high $$$ ones so try these adjustments and see if it works better for you. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you.
