• Al least 10 feet. My office is through a wall to my bathroom and it works through the wall.

• I've used it on a run with with my mobile in an arm band (mobile on my upper left arm, Fitbit on my right wrist); it worked well. I would think that's about as far apart as you would have them during exercise (with the possible exception of putting your mobile in a saddle bag with cycling--I've never tried that).
