• Yes, it works alone. If you have a laptop you can synch it with that too. The advantage of synching with a phone or laptop is that you can keep track of total lifetime steps, do challenges with others and other fun, neat stuff.

• Yes it does work alone. Just some features you might miss, However I have not tried it with a tablet you might look for an app in the app store.
