The surge has a built in GPS and can also track your walks and runs and plot them on a map which is great for runners. Besides the GPS, both do almost the same exact things and work on using the fitbit app.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Charge tells time and gives you caller ID but is mostly a fitness tracker. The Surge incorporates more smartwatch functionality like notifications, GPS, text messages, etc. There are a lot of good products in the middle ground between full smartwatch and basic fitness tracker. Fitbit is one of the more established brands among fitness trackers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Charge HR is just a normal activity tracker. Surge is a smart watch + activity tracker. If you don't need a full featured smart watch, get the surge HR. I got the normal Surge and I love it but from all of the HR reviews I've read, I wouldn't invest in the HR until they improve their heart rate monitoring. The feature is nice but the technology just isn't there yet to warrant purchasing a wrist based HR monitor.
