Just push Start for 30seconds and continue to desired time. You can ever add 30seconds at any time during the heating/cooking

There are a few ways to START the microwave, here are three: -If you only want to cook for a minute, you can just press the number 1 and it will start (also works for the number 2 and 3) -If you press START, it will start (not sure when it will turn off though) -If you want to MANUALLY ENTER THE TIME, there are three steps: Press COOK TIME button, Enter the time on the key pad, Press START.
