Hello Friendly Shopper. I will be more than happy to assist. A countertop microwave is designed to be in an open space (i.e counter or table). A built-in microwave is designed to provide a more finished look provided the trim kit that goes around the facing of the microwave. Built-in microwaves can be placed into the cabinetry.
