“When is is first taken out of the box, how long does it need to be plugged in before you can begin storing food in it? I want to make sure it gets to the proper temperature in the beginning so the food does not spoil”

From Frigidaire manual that came with our freezer: Cool Down Period • For safe food storage, allow 4 hours for the appliance to cool down completely. The unit will run continuously for the first several hours. Foods that are already frozen may be placed in the unit after the first few hours of operation. Unfrozen foods should NOT be loaded into freezer until freezer has operated for 4 hours. Hope this helps,we're REALLY pleased with our freezer -hope things work out for you.
