Upright freezers will pull a vacuum when the door is closed. Thus making it difficult to open the door. If you close the door you should hear a whistling sound.

The door has a good seal, the colder air inside creates a vacuum which makes it slightly difficult to open, that is a good thing because it makes it more efficient
