Mine does the same. I'm sure it's an energy setting. I haven't bothered to read thru the manual to see if there's ways to adjust that setting. I have other fans going in the room, so it shutting down doesn't bother me.

The fan in the back of the unit may cause a squeaking noise over time, but the unit is designed to pull air across the dehumidifying coils in order to collect moisture. In order to check the humidity level in the room, the fan must turn on, pull air across the coils, and use internal sensors to compare the current humidity level to the RH% setting you wish to achieve. If the humidity in the room is higher than the RH% setting the unit is set to, the compressor will kick on and dehumidification will begin.
