The unit comes with the drain hose you unscrew the cap with the water symbol on the back put the hose in and drain the water if any. The instructions say to do this before storage which makes me believe this only has to be done before winter storage so it should be good all summer long. I’m unsure if water accumulates though without using the dehumidifier my guess is no it does not.

An efficient venting system allows you to take ambient air from outside the room and dehumidify larger inside spaces. All of this is done with air ducts. ~Lauren
