“Can the center round burner be switched to the oval burner? It has an oval raised area which looks exactly like other models that have the oval burner and the igniter piece beneath the burners looks to be the same size as well.”

• You can just get the right base and cap for it. I'm about to do it myself. The base is held on with 2 bolts.
