Hello, CollegeDad2022! In the Cool Mode the appliance must be placed close to a window or opening so that the warm exhaust air can be ducted outside. If this isn’t done, the hot air would be vented back into the room and the space wouldn’t become cooler since no heat is being removed. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, every air conditioner needs to vent the hot air somewhere (ie. outside). If the exhaust was left inside, it would gradually increase the temperature of the room, not decrease.
