Hi there, our valued customer! Yes, the sides of a stove can get hot when the oven is on, especially when using high heat or cooking for extended periods. This is because the heat from the oven cavity can radiate outwards and warm surrounding surfaces, including the cooktop and sides of the stove. -Chris

Yes use caution stainless steel for some reason on this one does more than my other model it got hot also. Just remember its a oven and caution around it even with children i recomend.
