Yes the instructions are absolutely horrible and when calling customer service you're told to wait 2 to 3 days for a call back. All I did was put the rod inside the water bottle and then I did plug in the power cord. The exact opposite of what the instructions say, and I held down the hot water button and heard some noise go on until eventually water came out. Still working on trying to get the hot water to actually be hot but at least water is coming out now

Ultimately, we decided not to follow the instructions after looking at videos of other coolers set up instructions. So, turn off the hot water button, plug it in and then hold down the cold water button for a while until you get water, repeat with the other buttons and then turn on the hot water button. Exactly the opposite of the instructions.
