QuestionHow quiet is the exhaust fan?

- Answer It isn't. But, it's powerful -- which is what most people want from an exhaust fan. There isn't much difference between the High, Medium, and Low settings either. Ours vents out the top of the microwave, not direct-vented to the wall or attic, which may or may not affect how noisy it is.

- Answer If you choose to vent externally, it is a vertical vent, using the provided adapter plate. Otherwise, it vents out the top, above the door, into the room.

- Answer No, it's simply a high and low setting. The high setting is very bright, and the low is still pretty bright -- not what I would use as a "night light"

QuestionWhere is the vent located on this microwave? Also, can this be installed to exhaust out into the room?

- Answer Vertically, at the top of the door, toward the front. By default, it vents into the room or you can direct vent through a wall or attic, using the supplied adapter plate.

- Answer It is only supplied with an adapter plate, which is basically a damper to redirect the airflow to vent to the outside. You would need to supply the ductwork.

- Answer No they are not back lit. The lettering is printed on the glass, and are touch-sensitive, sort of like a touch screen (not a tactile, click-style button)

QuestionDoes this model have a smudge proof finish?

- Answer No. In fact I was disappointed with all the fingerprints and smears, etc. Soap and water and my dishcloth just made streaks when it dried. But I eventually found the perfect solution. Please use a soft cloth and a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water. It shines up perfectly. It’s the same solution to clean flat screen TV’s. Put the solution on the cloth, not the appliance/electronic. I do recommend this microwave. Lori (Jeff’s wife)

QuestionIt looks to me like keeping the front clean could be an issue. Do the "buttons" get dirty and does that dirt bleed onto the front of it?

- Answer It is easy to clean if it gets dirty/ finger prints. I use a soft cloth with a vinegar water solution.

QuestionWhen the microwave vent fan is on, we can hear the fan speed fluctuates, it's speeding up and down routinely. The buzzing noise is consistent but air flowing sound fluctuates( Even when there's no heat source from outside the microwave, no cooking)

QuestionI have the FGMV176NT installed and it is 16 13/32" tall. This GMOS1964AF is 15 5/8" tall. They both use the exact same mounting template. If I install this one on the old bracket will there be a gap at the top of .78125" since this unit is shorter?

- Answer there wont be a gap (or it will be less than .78"since the GMOS1964AF is actually more than 16.+" tall almost 16.5". I ordered this because of the height listed on the website .. got it and it wont fit due to tile on the back wall going just under the lip of the mounting bracket.. where there is 16" of clearence.

QuestionI am thinking of purchasing this model from Lowe's however your literature says that the microwave measures 29 and 7/8 wide The spec on your site says the opening should be 30 in. The literature at Lowe's says the cutout should be 31 in and width why??

- Answer The microwave measures exactly 29 7/8" wide. Our cabinet opening is 30 1/16" wide, and the unit just barely fits. If your bracket installation is precisely centered between the narrowest measurement in your opening, you might be okay with a 30" opening, but it's going to be a really snug fit. I would guess the 31" cutout suggestion is to factor in some wiggle room.
