Hello kdock, Thank you for reaching out to us! I can provide some general guidelines to help you determine if there is a risk of the hinge/door edge hitting the wall. According to Frigidaire Gallery’s website, the depth of their 21.5 cu ft Counter-Depth 4-Door French Door Refrigerator is 32 inches 1. If you have a wall on the right side and your opening is only 38.875 inches, then there is only 6.875 inches of clearance between the wall and the refrigerator. If you assume that the right door opens at a 90-degree angle, then you need to add the depth of the door to the depth of the refrigerator to determine how much space you need. Unfortunately, I could not find any information about how far out the door extends when it is fully open. However, if you are willing to live with a door that does not open to 90 degrees, then there should be no danger of the hinge/door edge hitting the wall. You could try opening the right door as far as it will go and measuring how much clearance you have between the hinge/door edge and the wall. This will give you a better idea of how much space you need. I hope this helps! - Owen
