Hi Acecert! Thank you for your question. Yes, you can turn off and remove the second (lower) ice bin in the freezer of the Frigidaire PRFS2883AF to gain extra freezer space, and the primary ice maker (for the outside door dispenser) will continue to work normally. -Chris
