“If I'm passing a via point on a different route, it will insist to navigating me there for some time before prompting if to skip it. Is there a way for it to just ignore the via point (same way as it does with shaping point)?”

To skip a waypoint, you will need to stop the route and re-start it. Once you have selected “Go”, select the next waypoint you would like to navigate to.
