“I want to put into my Garmin the Route and roads I LIKE to take to Go from my home to Monterey, some 200 miles. My way is safer and faster and my Nuvi puts me into the boonies far too often. Which model should I purchase that can do this. Thanks.”

• This model includes the Trip Planner feature that can be used to create and save a trip with multiple destinations. Or if you only want to “shape” a custom route to go the way you prefer, the device has a Shaping Points feature also. Thanks, James

• The model Garmin you have allows you to touch screen and choose a route. Then it can be set so it remembers that route it's a cool feature.

• to travel a particular route, I always just set waypoints along the route I want to drive and it takes me down the roads I want.
