“I want to get a new Garmin for my boyfriend who owns a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. The car compatibility box says this Garmin won't work in this car. In fact, none or the Garmins will work. Suggestions?”

I have a 2017 jeep and it has gave good directions so far.real pleased with it.

well, this probably won't help, but I can't imagine why a make of car would make any difference re the Garmin GPS system working. Info is from satellite to Garmin device; Not sure what 'box' you are reading re 'car compatibility' - is it the box in which a Garmin GPS system is packaged? Didn't find anything in the usage book (can be found via PDF) online re any car restrictions, but may have missed something. In any case - doesn't make sense to me. Check with Best Buy's Geeks if doubt remaining.

This mode will work in any vehicle that includes a 12 volt cigarette lighter power port.
