“To update maps on my old Garmin, I just plugged it into my computer and used Garmin Express to update the maps. However some have noted that you need the receiver GTM 36 traffic receiver/vehicle power cable, part number 010-01009-02. So which is it?”

• No. That cable is for traffic only.

• The Garmin Drive 52 is also updated using the Garmin Express program. Simply connect to computer and use the Garmin Express program to check for updates. The GTM 36 traffic receiver/vehicle power cable is compatible with the Drive 52, but is not required.
