Yes. The recording function comes on when your turn on the unit. The navigation and recording work simultaneously just fine. I have only had the unit a few weeks and just got back from a business trip with it. There were no issues with the two functions working together. When you look at playback from the video recording, it displays the location as Lat/Long and speed, so it can be real handy. You just have to touch the icon on the screen to turn off the recording if you want or go into the settings to turn off just the audio recording. Hope this helps.
