No, the nuvi 57LM does not audibly speak the word "recalculating" if you deviate from the planned route, however, if route deviation does occur, the device will automatically find a new route and continue to provide you with appropriate spoken instructions from your current position. -MH
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Ours didn't say "recalculating". I was glad about that. If we turned different, it just corrected. We are in our 70s and we had never had a GPS before. This worked great for us.
