That would be a question for a medical professional. It will monitor the heart rate and some models will monitor breathing also.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This is not a telemetry monitor. I don't believe there is ANY device you can wear on your WRIST that will monitor your heart RHYTHM, only the rate. I say that as a 21-year career nurse, RN, BSN trained in the care of cardiac patients. I have worked on my current unit, medical oncology PCU (denotes heart monitoring), for 12 years. My mother also has atrial fibrillation. What do you mean by 'silent'? I presume you mean he is asymptomatic, no palpitations, no dizziness, etc. However, atrial fibrillation, even if it comes and goes, can cause pooling of blood in the atria (upper chambers) that can potentially clot and the clot can go to the brain, cause a stroke. That is why atrial fibrillation patients, such as my mother, are taking medications such as Coumadin, Eloquis, Xarelto to prevent clots. Your husband, I presume, is under the care of a cardiologist? This device may monitor his heart rate but will not follow the rhythm. We use lead II and three leads attached to the chest at precise points to monitor rate and rhythm. My mother has a pacemaker, the purpose of which is to prevent a SLOW heart rate that will not support the blood pressure.
